G20 Engagements Plan: Advancing Climate Democracy in Africa
As South Africa assumes the 2025 G20 Presidency under the theme “Solidarity, Equality, Sustainability,” Democracy Works Foundation (DWF), in partnership with the African Climate Foundation, is committed to advancing democratic climate governance across the African continent.
Through strategic engagement in key G20 spaces, we aim to centre African voices and priorities in global climate discourse:
- F20: Co-chairing the Foundations 20 platform to mobilise global climate philanthropy in support of just and inclusive transitions
- B20: Advocating for greater corporate responsibility and accountability in climate governance
- Y20: Supporting meaningful youth participation in shaping climate and development policy.
DWF’s Africa @ the G20 campaign will use evidence-based messaging, public engagement, and coalition-building to ensure that Africa’s climate justice and democracy agendas are not only heard—but acted upon—at the highest levels of global decision-making.
